Safety & Emergency Info
The safety and well-being of all students is a priority at Azusa Unified. The staff and administration strive to maintain a safe and secure campus that focuses on the personal safety of each student. The school has a plan to ensure the safety of students during any emergency. Safety drills are conducted regularly. Emergency equipment, supplies, and communication equipment are kept on site.
It is essential that emergency contact information is current. Emergency contacts must be completed through our online data confirmation process every year. This information is used to notify parents in the event of injury, illness, or emergency. The primary phone number should be the one you will answer. In addition to yourself, please include at least three contacts whom you authorize to pick up your student. Please log into your parent portal and update your contacts during the school year. The Thurston staff prints emergency contact information for use in our Disaster Preparedness Program.
In the event of a lockdown or disruption to the normal school day, the first priority of staff is to ensure student safety. When necessary and when it is safe to do so, school or District staff will send an all-call or text message update regarding the incident.
If There Is An Emergency
- Follow official school and district social media channels for instructions/ information – calls to the school may go unanswered our top priority in an emergency is ensuring student safety.
- Check your phone and email for messages from the school or district.
- Please do not come to the school unless instructed to do so. If emergency response is required, law enforcement, fire, and EMS will need unobstructed access to campus.
- A student will only be allowed to leave with persons listed on the student’s emergency card. NO EXCEPTIONS!
